Our Administration Manager, Melissa Carney, advises new more stringent BASIX rules came into effect on 1st July 2017.
Amongst the rule changes is greater performance criteria on heat rejection in summer months and heat retention in cooler winter months.
Clients who commissioned BASIX assessments under the pre 1st July 2017 rules will need to have their plans re-assessed under the new framework if they have not yet lodged their Development Applications with Council.
We recommend you speak with your BASIX Consultant about the impact of these changes on your existing plans and if necessary have your Architect and BASIX Consultant discuss cost effective approaches to meeting the new compliance obligations (which may require the plans to be updated accordingly).
It follows that an impact of the new rules is additional time delay in gaining Council approval if compliance with the new BASIX measures is overlooked.
Please feel free to contact us at Sea Breeze Homes if you have any questions, or would like us to arrange a meeting with a BASIX Consultant.
